Basketball Recap: Port Jervis Comes Up Short

Port Jervis was the 57-46 winner over Saugerties when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Port Jervis Raiders were beaten by the Saugerties Sawyers 71-42 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Sawyers are ranked 131st).

Port Jervis' defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Saugerties, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Jervis will square off against Fallsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Port Jervis is facing Fallsburg at the right time seeing as Fallsburg is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Saugerties, they will take on Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
