Dexter came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 40-22 win over the Piscataquis Pirates. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Pirates are ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dexter has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Piscataquis, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dexter will head out to square off against Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dexter's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Central's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Piscataquis, they will venture away from home to face off against Penobscot Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Penobscot Valley will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Piscataquis surely won't give up without a fight.
