Basketball Recap: Bayfield Takes a Loss

Bayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Birchwood Bobcats, falling 55-35. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-32 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Bayfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Stella Gordon dropped a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Gordon has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last five times she's played.

Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Birchwood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Butternut at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Birchwood, they will head out to square off against Cornell at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
