Softball Recap: Brunswick Comes Up Short

Brunswick fell victim to Francis Scott Key and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 6-0. The Railroaders have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Kassidy Barnhouse was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brunswick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sienna Russo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Francis Scott Key, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-1-1 record this season.

Brunswick will venture away from home to challenge Boonsboro at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Railroaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Francis Scott Key, they will be playing at home against Frederick at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
