Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds

Westwood is 0-10 against Lincoln Park Academy since November of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Westwood Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m.

Westwood is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Sebastian River on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Westwood was outmatched by Sebastian River and fell 66-35. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 337th, while the Sharks are ranked 94th).

Meanwhile, Lincoln Park Academy entered their tilt with Vero Beach on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Indians 2-0. The two-point effort marked the Greyhounds' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lincoln Park Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Westwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Westwood took a serious blow against Lincoln Park Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 62-17. Can Westwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
