Lourdes Academy are taking a road trip to challenge the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Lourdes Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Lourdes Academy turned things around against Braddock on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Bulldogs.
Mia Rivera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Tatiana Hernandez was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Jaqueline Perez-Abreu was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart didn't have quite enough to beat Somerset Academy South Homestead on Tuesday and fell 11-9.
Grace Diez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Allyson Wolfson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Lourdes Academy's record is now 6-7. As for Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lourdes Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lourdes Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lourdes Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
