Preview: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Coventry Comets
Cloverleaf is 10-0 against Coventry since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Cloverleaf Colts will head out on the road to face off against the Coventry Comets at 7:00 p.m. Cloverleaf is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
Cloverleaf pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norton. While losing is never fun, Cloverleaf can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Norton is ranked 199th).
Despite the defeat, Cloverleaf had strong showings from Emma Hibler, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, and Saige Foky, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. Those eight assists set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Seiwerth, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Coventry lost to Ravenna on the road by a decisive 41-23 margin on Wednesday.
Cloverleaf's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-5. As for Coventry, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything went Cloverleaf's way against Coventry when the teams last played back in January as Cloverleaf made off with a 68-47 victory. Does Cloverleaf have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coventry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
