Basketball Recap: Cathedral Catholic Falls Despite Big Games from Patrick O'brien and PJ Jourdain

It was fun while it lasted, but Cathedral Catholic's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Tuesday. They fell 59-52 to the La Jolla Country Day Torreys. The Dons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Torreys from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

PJ Jourdain and Patrick O'Brien certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jourdain went 8 of 18 en route to 22 points and five rebounds, while O'Brien dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave O'Brien a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Rall, who posted five points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cathedral Catholic fell to 3-1. As for La Jolla Country Day, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Cathedral Catholic will square off against Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cathedral Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 78.2 points per game this season. As for La Jolla Country Day, they will take on Temecula Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
