Softball Recap: Vallivue Beats Lewiston for Their Fifth Straight Win

Vallivue had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Lewiston Bengals. The eight-run effort marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Vallivue got a great performance from Maris Farner as she struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Farner has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Journey Engle was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Abbie Egglston, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Vallivue's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Lewiston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Vallivue will be taking part in a tournament against Lowry at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lowry's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Vallivue's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lewiston, they will take on La Grande in a tournament on Saturday. La Grande will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lewiston surely won't give up without a fight.
