Softball Recap: Service Takes Down Ranked West Anchorage

Service faced West Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 2-0 shutout. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

McKinley Fuller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Service's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for West Anchorage, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Service will take on Colony in a tournament on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. West Anchorage has already played their next match (against Kenai Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
