Softball Game Preview: Ontario Jaguars vs. Don Lugo Conquistadors

Ontario hasn't had much luck against Don Lugo recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field against the Conquistadors at 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Ontario didn't have quite enough to beat Chino and fell 8-7.

Meanwhile, Don Lugo narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Chaffey 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Conquistadors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Randi Barrios spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayden Pitsenberger, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Liester, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Don Lugo's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Ontario, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Ontario beat Don Lugo 7-2 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Conquistadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
