Recap: Druid Hills Red Devils vs. Hapeville Charter Hornets

The Druid Hills Red Devils were the 54-51 winner over the Hapeville Charter Hornets when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Druid Hills took a 77-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hapeville Charter on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (58), Druid Hills still had to take the loss.

Hapeville Charter was led to victory by Jonathan Goldson and Keith Parker. Goldson dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, while Parker scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The contest was Goldson's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Thad Buttone, who scored 15 points.

Druid Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Hapeville Charter, they pushed their record up to 7-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Druid Hills will take on Holy Innocents Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Innocents Episcopal presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Druid Hills in Georgia (Holy Innocents Episcopal is ranked 43rd, while Druid Hills is ranked 194th). Hapeville Charter and Stone Mountain will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Stone Mountain has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.
