Baseball Recap: Meridian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Meridian waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Columbus Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three contests by 14 runs or more so far this season.

Meridian got a massive performance out of Ali Jimerson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Jimerson a new career-high. Bryson Jackson was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Meridian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meridian's record is now 6-3. As for Columbus, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Meridian will look to defend their home field on Friday against Benton Academy at 7:00 p.m. Columbus will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' game: after the Wildcats face off against the Raiders, they'll take on Columbus again at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
