Baseball Recap: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets

Franklinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 last Tuesday.

Conor Simpson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. William Holmes was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Franklinton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Roanoke Rapids, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4.

Coincidentally, Franklinton and Roanoke Rapids will both be playing Northern Nash the next time they take the field. Franklinton will host Northern Nash at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Roanoke Rapids will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
