Baseball Recap: Merritt Island Christian Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Merritt Island Christian faced off against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Tuesday. Merritt Island Christian took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 18-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Merritt Island Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayvon Morris, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Morris has become a key player for Merritt Island Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Cameron Murphy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Merritt Island Christian dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Merritt Island Christian and Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will both be playing Lake Highland Prep the next time they take the field. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy will host Lake Highland Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Merritt Island Christian will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
