Preview: Mapleton Mounties vs. Crestview Cougars
The Mapleton Mounties will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Crestview Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Mapleton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Edison scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Mapleton still came out on top. Mapleton walked away with a 66-59 victory over Edison. Given Mapleton's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Edison is ranked 710th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Crestview put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 85-46 victory over New London on the road. Considering Crestview has won three matches by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mapleton's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Crestview, their victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.
Mapleton came up short against Crestview in their previous meeting back in February, falling 70-60. Can Mapleton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
