Recap: New Site Royals vs. Mantachie Mustangs
The New Site Royals entered their tilt with the Mantachie Mustangs with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. New Site strolled past Mantachie with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-48. Given New Site's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Mantachie is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Site's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooklyn Hodum, who scored 13 points along with 7 assists and 4 steals. The game was Hodum's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Chloe Chism was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 4 blocks.
New Site pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.33 points. As for Mantachie, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Site will challenge Baldwyn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mantachie, they will head out on the road to face off against Hickory Flat at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
