Volleyball Recap: Miami Country Day Starts Season with Victory Against Avant Garde Academy

Miami Country Day gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Avant Garde Academy Sharks. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sharks, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Miami Country Day took both sets by at least 13 points. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-12.

Kendall Fugate paced Miami Country Day's offense, picking up seven kills. Fugate got some help from Vanessa Londono and her 11 assists. Londono was also solid from the service line: she led the team with 11 aces.

Miami Country Day has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Westminster Academy on the 14th. As for Avant Garde Academy, they will welcome Horeb Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
