Softball Recap: Donelson Christian Academy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Donelson Christian Academy barely beat Nashville Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Donelson Christian Academy Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Nashville Christian Eagles a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bailey Goad made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Donelson Christian Academy let Madison McHenry and Heather Scales run wild. McHenry went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Scales scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave Scales a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Averie Beltran, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Donelson Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

Donelson Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Nashville Christian, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Donelson Christian Academy will square off against Watertown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Nashville Christian has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
