Football Game Preview: Summit Storm vs. Bend Lava Bears + How To Watch

The Summit Storm will head out on the road to face off against the Bend Lava Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Summit is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Summit's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Friday, when they got past Ridgeview's usually-dominant defense. The Storm were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over the Ravens. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Ravens are ranked 50th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Bend's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 54-35 fall against Lebanon.

Summit will have to keep a close watch on Kaden Cooper and James Mathiesen, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bend's prior game. Cooper threw for 224 yards and three TDs while completing 80% of his passes, while Mathiesen picked up 86 receiving yards and one score.

Bend's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Summit, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Summit strolled past Bend when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 21-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
