Baseball Recap: Rock Hill Comes Up Short

Rock Hill extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They came up short against the Portsmouth Trojans, falling 12-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Redmen were not able to get on the board.

As for Portsmouth, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4. Considering they have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Portsmouth's part, the result came thanks to Leelind Scurlock's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. Scurlock has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, J.T. Williams was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trevin Brooks, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
