Basketball Recap: Bryson Goodman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shepherd over Livingston

Shepherd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 64-53 to the Livingston Lions. The matchup was a 34-34 toss-up at halftime, but the Pirates couldn't quite close it out.

Shepherd lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bryson Goodman, who went 5 of 12 en route to 15 points and five steals. Goodman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden White, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 boards.

Livingston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ziekus Garner led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 steals. Those 12 steals gave Garner a new career-high. Roberto Ramirez was another key player, going 7 for 10 on his way to 15 points and seven steals.

Shepherd's defeat dropped their record down to 16-18. As for Livingston, their victory bumped their record up to 19-13.

Shepherd will challenge Hardin-Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hardin-Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season. As for Livingston, they will square off against Tarkington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
