Basketball Game Preview: Shields Panthers vs. Choctaw County Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Shields Panthers challenge the Choctaw County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... One thing working in Shields' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.

If Shields beats Choctaw County with 72 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Shields breezed by Choctaw County to the tune of 72-26 on Wednesday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-10.

Shields' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markaja Brown, who almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 11 assists, and nine steals. CarTarriyah Hicks was another key player, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 boards.

Brown wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Shields was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Choctaw County only posted three assists.

Shields' win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Choctaw County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
