Softball Recap: Irvine Takes a Loss

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-6 to the Fountain Valley Barons. One positive for the Vaqueros, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Rebecca Franco was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Katie Liu also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Even though they lost, Irvine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Irvine's loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Irvine will take on Granada Hills Charter in a tournament on Saturday. As for Fountain Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sunny Hills at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
