The Marksville Tigers will face off against the Vidalia Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Marksville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Marksville took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Caldwell Parish, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Marksville skirted past Caldwell Parish 5-4. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Katie Lachney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kristen Lachney was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Lachney, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Vidalia lost 20-5 to Bunkie on Tuesday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Piper Weatherly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Marksville's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Vidalia, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Marksville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Vidalia struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marksville took their win against Vidalia in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6. Will Marksville repeat their success, or does Vidalia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
