Softball Recap: Lancaster Takes a Loss

Lancaster fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Blythewood on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bengals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 back in March.

Olyanna Wheeler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Zoi Chambers was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Lancaster has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Blythewood, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Coming up, Lancaster will head out on the road to challenge York at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blythewood, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against South Florence at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bengals 3.4, the Bruins 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
