Softball Game Preview: South Gate Rams vs. Huntington Park Spartans

For the second straight game, South Gate will face off against Huntington Park. The Rams will square off against the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. South Gate will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

South Gate had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Huntington Park on Wednesday. The Rams blew past the Spartans 17-2. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Barbara Siero made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Veronica Esparza, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jimena Salinas, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

South Gate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Huntington Park is on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14. As for South Gate, their record now sits at 10-16.
