Basketball Recap: Ben Fitzgerald's Big Game Can't Quite Lead the Epiphany School of Global Studies over East Carteret + How To Watch

The Epiphany School of Global Studies extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 5-8. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 70-65 heartbreaker at the hands of the East Carteret Mariners. Even if the Falcons couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

The Epiphany School of Global Studies' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Fitzgerald, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Thomas Lathan, who shot 42% from the field en route to 11 points.

As for East Carteret, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

East Carteret got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Roberson out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. What's more, Roberson racked up seven assists, the most he's had since back in January. Lukas Styron was another key player, going 7-for-16 to rack up 17 points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. The Epiphany School of Global Studies will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. East Carteret and Jacksonville will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
