The New Castle Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 39-35 defeat to they. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Wapahani is ranked 168th).
Emma Hart was New Castle's leading scorer, having posted 11 points.
Anna Tyner held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
New Castle has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Wapahani, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
New Castle will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastern Hancock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Eastern Hancock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. Wapahani is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Daleville at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Daleville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
