Softball Recap: Greenwood Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lake View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwood). Everything went their way against the Lake View Chiefs/Maidens on Thursday as the Greenwood Rangers made off with a 16-5 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Rangers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Addison Arredondo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Greenwood got a massive performance out of Mae Savage, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Savage has posted since back in February. Farrah Fortner was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Greenwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Greenwood's victory bumped their record up to 9-10-1. As for Lake View, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

Coming up, Greenwood is taking a road trip to face off against Andrews at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Andrews is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season. As for Lake View, they will welcome Grape Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake View has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
