Baseball Game Preview: Malad Dragons vs. Marsh Valley Eagles

Malad has won eight straight games at home, while Marsh Valley has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Dragons will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Malad came out on top against Declo on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Dragons put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 11-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Brycen Howe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brady Showell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kurt Ward, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Marsh Valley got the win against Kimberly on Friday by a conclusive 11-4.

Marsh Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Malad, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
