East Jordan and Boyne City are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Red Devils will head out to face off against the Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. East Jordan is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
East Jordan gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over Mancelona. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Brenden Aenis was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Korbyn Russell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
East Jordan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Boyne City couldn't beat Gaylord on Thursday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the first inning. Neither the Ramblers nor the Blue Devils could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for an 11-11 tie.
East Jordan pushed their record up to 23-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. With that draw, Boyne City's record moves to 4-15-3.
Boyne City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Jordan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. It's a different story for Boyne City, though, as they've only averaged .326. Will they be able to contain East Jordan's hitters?
East Jordan came out on top in a nail-biter against Boyne City when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
