Basketball Recap: Richmond Skates Past Lee County with Ease

Richmond had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lee County Yellow Jackets 70-11. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Richmond's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamyia 'Juicy' Lindsey, who posted 21 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Lindsey's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 21 points. Jasiah 'Jo Jo' Gilchrist was another key player, going 7 of 14 en route to 17 points and six steals.

Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Richmond's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for Lee County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richmond will challenge Southern Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Richmond has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
