Football Recap: Walton Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Walton had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it six. They fell 27-21 to the Bay Tornadoes. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Tornadoes are ranked 115th).

Rodney Clinch threw for 147 yards and two TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. Rashawn Gundrum was his top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Davaris Wilson rushed for 198 yards and one score while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

As for Bay, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1. Those 27 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

MJ Wilkkerson had a dynamite game, rushing for 103 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Bay also got help from Javar Bowden, who showed off his sure hands for 101 receiving yards.

Looking ahead, Walton will take on Freeport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.86 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bay, they will face off against Rutherford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.63 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
