Football Game Preview: Northgate Vikings vs. Villa Rica Wildcats

After each having a week off, the Northgate Vikings and the Villa Rica Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Northgate's defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so Villa Rica's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Northgate will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Dutchtown, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Vikings enjoyed a cozy 25-6 win over the Bulldogs on Friday.

Woody Schettini produced another solid performance rushing for 104 yards and two scores. Northgate is undefeated when Schettini posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Treveon Gill, who rushed for 50 yards and one TD.

Northgate didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brysen Davies and Elijah Jones. Davies is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least 11 every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Villa Rica gave up the first points last Thursday, but they didn't give up any more after. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-14 victory over East Paulding. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Northgate's record is now 8-2. As for Villa Rica, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Northgate skirted past Villa Rica 12-9 in their previous meeting back in August. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
