Peyton Gardinier gave up the fewest walks he has over his last five contests on Saturday. Nobody could stop him as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). James Monroe is 4-1 when Gardinier allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Coming up, Gardinier and James Monroe will welcome Greenbrier East at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mavericks haven't beaten the Spartans recently, having gone 0-10 since April of 2015.
