Preview: Northwestern Wildcats vs. DuVal Tigers
Northwestern is 1-9 against the Tigers since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The pair will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Northwestern has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
Northwestern pushed their score all the way to 68 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walter Johnson.
Meanwhile, even though Parkdale scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, DuVal still came out on top. DuVal managed a 64-59 win over the Panthers. Given DuVal's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Panthers are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for DuVal, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Northwestern was taken down by the Tigers 84-40 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Northwestern was down 47-22.
