Como Park is 9-1 against Harding since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Como Park and Johnson had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars came out on top against the Governors by a score of 13-10 on Tuesday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Brendan Avant was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Marcel Bolden also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Harding was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Highland Park, falling 32-17. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (12), the Knights still had to take the loss.
Jaunathan Williamson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Kirckof, who went 1-for-4 with three runs.
Harding's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Como Park, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Como Park has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Harding struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Como Park's way against Harding when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Como Park made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
