1. Atascocita (Humble)
Head coach: David Martinez
2014-15 record: 35-2

Undersized but full of hustle, the Eagles are led by prolific Carsen Edwards (5-11, Sr., G), a Purdue pledge who averaged 24.3 points per game as a junior. Three other starters return for the pressing, fast-tempo club that made it to the Class 6A Region II title game, including Matt Willrodt (6-4, Sr., F).

Head coach: Chris Dyer
2014-15 record: 29-5

With 6-11 center Marques Bolden patrolling the paint, the Eagles will have a dominating presence inside. The undeclared senior averaged 11.4 points and 8.4 rebounds last year. Ball-handling duties fall on three-year starter Julian Miranda (5-9, Sr., PG) and Leon Sneed (6-0, Sr., G).

The defending Class 5A state champions' three returning starters will try to offset the graduation of 6-9 Elijah Thomas (Texas A&M). There is a good mix of talent returning in Jakolby Pemberton (6-5, Sr., G/F), Nate Morris (6-9, Sr., F/C) and Deon Barrett (5-10, Sr., G).

The Jaguars battled to the wire with Class 5A state runner-up Ozen (Beaumont) a year ago, losing out to their rival by six points in a regional final. Heading the returnee list is Texas State commit Nijal Pearson (6-5, Sr., SG/SF). Lamar pledge Tyrin Atwood (6-4, Sr., W/SF) gives the Jags balance in the frontcourt.
