Basketball Recap: Portsmouth West Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Portsmouth West won the last time they faced Piketon and things went their way on Saturday too. The Portsmouth West Senators walked away with a 55-42 win over the Piketon Redstreaks. Given the Senators' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Redstreaks are ranked 711th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Piketon lost, don't look at Bo Henry. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and six boards. What's more, Henry also posted three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Luke Gullion was another key player, putting up nine points.

The victory got Portsmouth West back to even at 11-11. As for Piketon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
