Softball Recap: Lisbon Broncos vs. Northern Cass Jaguars
There's no place like home for Lisbon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Northern Cass Jaguars on Monday, sneaking past 7-6.
Aubrey Opp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Opp was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Kiera Maus and Brooklyn Bergemann did most of the damage at the plate: Maus got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Bergemann got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Abby Sutherland was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Lisbon's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Northern Cass, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Looking ahead, Lisbon will challenge Hillsboro/Central Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northern Cass, they will face off against Enderlin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
