Softball Game Preview: Harvest Christian Academy Lions vs. St. Edward Green Wave

Harvest Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against St. Edward recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lions will look to defend their home field against the Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. Harvest Christian Academy has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harvest Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Hiawatha on Thursday as they made off with a 35-13 win. Considering the Lions have won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mackenzie Richards was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Schier, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Harvest Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .854. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, St. Edward was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 10-4 to Bishop McNamara.

St. Edward saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Gurley, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Taylor Dawson was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Harvest Christian Academy pushed their record up to 10-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 runs over those games. As for St. Edward, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
