Basketball Recap: California Grizzlies vs. De La Salle Spartans
The California Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 59-47 to De La Salle. While losing is never fun, California can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Spartans are ranked tenth).
When it comes to explaining why California lost, one person who can't be blamed is ARMAN MARTIN. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points MARTIN has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jared Calderon, who scored 11 points.
California's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-14. As for De La Salle, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-3.
California won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Dons at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Arroyo is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. De La Salle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
