Basketball Game Preview: Estero Wildcats vs. Mariner Tritons

Having just played yesterday, the Estero Wildcats will get right back to it and host the Mariner Tritons at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Estero has six straight victories, Mariner has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Estero earned a 60-47 win over Ida Baker. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Estero can attribute much of their success to Amiya Lewis, who went 10 of 22 on her way to 22 points and seven boards, and Callie Hall, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least a third of Estero's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Vaill, who posted nine points.

Estero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mariner took a blow against Oasis on Monday, falling 54-25.

Estero's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Mariner, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Estero beat Mariner 43-31 in their previous meeting on Thursday. Will Estero repeat their success, or does Mariner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
