Basketball Game Preview: Lane Tech Champions vs. Taft Eagles

The Lane Tech Champions will face off against the Taft Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lane Tech will be strutting in after a victory while Taft will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Saturday, Lane Tech was able to grind out a solid win over New Trier, taking the game 60-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Champions.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Taft's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a blow against Glenbrook North, falling 83-43. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Spartans are ranked 130th).

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Lane Tech, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Lane Tech didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Taft in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. Will Lane Tech repeat their success, or does Taft have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
