Softball Recap: Whale Branch Comes Up Short

If Whale Branch was riding high fresh off their 42-33 takedown of Lake Marion last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Whale Branch came up short against the Cross Stingrays on Thursday, falling 20-5. The Warriors have struggled against the Stingrays recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Londyn Lewis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. That hit was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliyah Jean Baptist, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Whale Branch's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Cross, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Whale Branch will take on Lake Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Marion has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something Whale Branch will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cross, they will square off against Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
