Carmi-White County hadn't done well against Mt. Vernon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 7-5. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Wildcats on their field since May 14, 2021.

Mitchel Edwards was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Maxon Odaniel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Carmi-White County's win bumped their record up to 4-5-1. As for Mt. Vernon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Carmi-White County will venture away from home to challenge Edwards County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Washington at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcats are facing the Hatchets at the right time seeing as the Hatchets are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
