Soccer Game Preview: Los Osos vs. Upland

The Los Osos Grizzlies will challenge the Upland Highlanders/Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Osos' last five contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Los Osos' defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Rancho Cucamonga out 1-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Grizzlies' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while the Cougars are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, Upland narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Damien 1-0. Drew Shoji had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Highlanders/Scots.

Upland's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3-1. As for Los Osos, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5-1 and their overall record up to 4-8-4.
