Basketball Recap: Proviso East Comes Up Short

Proviso East suffered their biggest defeat since February 12th on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Crane Medical Cougars and fell 57-30. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Cougars are ranked 64th).

Despite the loss, Proviso East still got an impressive performance from Amyiah Dunbar, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Dunbar a new career-high in steals.

Proviso East's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Crane Medical, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Proviso East didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-38 win against Tinley Park on the 26th. Crane Medical has also already played their next game, a 55-33 defeat against Homewood-Flossmoor on the 26th.
