Volleyball Recap: Central's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After flying high against Imperial on Tuesday, Central came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Southwest EC Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Central actually scored more points across those five sets (107-97), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 10-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21, 18-16.

Jesus Trevi?o was the offensive standout of the match as he had 14 digs and three assists. Daniel Pineda also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Southwest EC, their win bumped their record up to 13-20.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Lincoln on the 18th. As for Southwest EC, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Imperial at 6:00 p.m. on the 29th. The Eagles are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
